Designs by Donna is located in the cute town of Flowery Branch, GA. So let me show you around downtown, in case you’re wondering what there is to do when you come and visit while taking a workshop at Designs by Donna.
If antiquing isn’t your thing, perhaps a cup of coffee and sandwich at Common Grounds coffee shop, an elegant dinner at Antebellum restaurant with sweeping side porches, or a stroll across the street to shop at Southern Grace gift shop.
What are others saying about Flowery Branch?
Here’s what Kip had to say regarding hotels, dining, and the workshops. I’ve taken several classes at Designs by Donna and an unexpected pleasure is getting to visit Flowery Branch, Georgia. Even though it is becoming more like a suburb of Atlanta, it still has that small town Southern charm. Donna’s workroom location is easy to get to by Interstate Highway 985; but once you drive a few blocks from the highway exit, you see green pastures and the quaint town of Flowery Branch. However, the convenience of Target, Kohl’s, Home Depot, and Publix grocery store are only minutes away.
Area Hotels
There are several hotels located very close to Designs by Donna. I can highly recommend the Hampton Inn off Interstate 985 Exit 12. It is extremely comfortable, clean, and reasonably priced. What really impressed me was that the woman at the hotel in charge of the morning complimentary breakfast recognized me as a repeat guest on my second visit, asking “what upholstering project are you doing this time?” Now, that’s Southern hospitality at its finest!
Area Restaurants
What I did not expect when attending Donna’s classes was to come away with a list of new favorite restaurants. Sandwiches and salads from the neighborhood sandwich shop (Delizio) are great for lunch. Most nights we go to dinner as a group, and favorites include the Crossroads Bar and Grille bar and the Mexican restaurant in downtown Flowery Branch. But the real treat for me is dining dockside on Lake Lanier at Fish Tales Lakeside Grille!
Here’s what Donna had to say about lodging and relaxing over dinner while attending hands-on workshops. “I highly recommend The Hampton Inn in Flowery Branch. I’ve had the opportunity to stay there on 2 occasions for multiple days each. I’ve already reserved my room for next time! The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff was very courteous, striving to make our visit great. Because they also offer breakfast you’re ready to start your day as soon as you arrive for class. After a long (but great) day in a workshop, it was so nice and relaxing to stop at Crossroads restaurant in the Publix shopping center for a great dinner and then to drive a short distance to the Hampton Inn.”
