As one year draws to an end and another begins, I like to reflect on the eventful year it’s been. Here are just a few of the highlights from 2017.
2017 kept me busy working with beautiful fabrics to bring joy and beauty into the lives of others through exquisite design, teaching, and sharing.
A weekly video series in 2017, Tips and Tools Tuesday, kept me busy filming, editing, and sharing ideas on decorating and custom soft furnishings. You can watch these on my website. www.designsbydonnaatlanta.com
Creating beautiful, one of a kind, embellishments for custom soft furnishings not only brings me joy but also brings joy to my clients.
This patchwork quilt was made with patches collected from law enforcement agencies from all over the world. This is for a 10-year-old boy who lost his father while working in the line of duty. I was humbled and honored to have been asked to make this. God bless him.
Teaching through private instruction and in groups for serious workroom professionals looking to take their skills to the next level.
Saturday Sewing School happens one Saturday morning each month. I get to share my passion and teach children to sew. This is always a source of joy for me, and here are just a few pictures from our 2017 classes.
A trip to NYC for a tour of the Garment District was a highlight of the year I hope to get to repeat in the near future.
Two video tutorials on how to make a tailored bed skirt and another for a bolster pillow. These streaming HD videos allow anytime, anywhere access to watch on any device. Next up? A video for making a basic duvet cover and a pillow sham. And more new video content is coming in 2018.
Keeping up with my own education is important to me, so I took a tassel making class and a slipcover class. I’m adding slipcovers to the list of services offered at Designs by Donna in 2018.
Another 2017 highlight was attending the Country Living Fair in Stone Mountain, GA. My friend Kim Chagnon of Kim’s Upholstery spoke on the main stage and presented how to cover an ottoman.
With snow in December, I was happy to display these Christmas tree pillows made of Sunbrella fabric in the snow!
On a personal note, Greg and I are happy to share Justin and Brenna wed on May 6, 2017. Our family is growing and we’re excited to have a second daughter in law.
A trip to Boston is not complete without visiting Mike’s Pastry and trying the cannolis. However, I also love all the beautiful sites Boston has to offer!
Keeping our work/play time in balance is a priority so Greg and I enjoyed a long weekend in Asheville and did a little hiking.
No grandbabies yet, but we are happy to have a new granddog, Ronan, a Golden Doodle and we are just delighted for Christopher and Arina.
I hope your year has been a good one too and that 2018 brings you good health and much joy!
At Designs by Donna my mission is:
